Student Academic Center - Private Tutoring - Saddle Brook, New Jersey

Student Academic Center- Open to all

The Student Academic Center is designed to facilitate knowledge acquisition for the student-athlete.  The SAC offers open hours, private/ semi-private tutoring, and workshops that provide the academic backbone for competing at the colligate level. In the academically rigorous environment of the SAC, student-athletes can receive quick help on any homework or research questions during open hours.  Private and semi-private tutoring is dedicated to creating life-long learners and offers the student-athlete a structured approach to homework, reading, mathematics, and more.  Summer workshops create a well-rounded student-athlete with entertaining and educational projects.  Through goal-setting, frequent assessments, and communication, Premier leads the student-athlete up the path to colligate Academic All-American.

 

Private Tutoring- 55 minutes

Private tutoring is an individual approach to instruction and learning. Each session is geared toward preparing students to advance to the next level of excellence through intense skill training. Private tutors teach more than just academics, but also work with students on goal - setting and guide them down the path to success. Here, the student learns more than just academics, but also a work ethic.

By-the-Minute Break Down - Private Tutoring
• 0-5 share and discuss weekly reflection journal
• 6-8   review goal sheet progress
• 9-25 old skill review or homework help
• 26- 30 teach new skill
• 31-35 guided practice of new skill
• 36-45 independent practice of new skill
• 46- 50 assessment and conclusion of new skill
• 51-55 set new goal and topic for the next reflection journal

Semi-Private Tutoring- 55 minutes

55 minutes Semi-Privates are a group-based approach to instruction and learning. In a semi-private lesson, the student-athlete will learn oration skills, critical reading skills, and writing skills while exercising their minds as they reflect, read, and write about mental strengths. Students will learn about and use critical reading skills, grammatical skills, and different types of writing in order to examine and analyze how mental strength in sports is mirrored in all aspects of their lives. Using techniques that will prepare the student athlete for SAT/ ACTs, college essay writing, and beyond, the student-athlete will hone their mental deftness to become an academic champion.

By-the-Minute Break Down - Semiprivate Tutoring
• 0-5 Students have 1 minute to read a loud their weekly reflection.
• 5-10 Opener- Why we are reading about what we are reading.
• 11-15 Teach critical reading skill
• 16-20 Guided practice
• 21-30 Students read passage using critical reading skills (or a grammatical skill depending on the day)
• 31-35 Discuss passage
• 36- 45 Students answer four questions about the passage that are relevant to the skill taught and the discussion.  (Rotate classes with multiple-choice questions and a short answer paragraph)
• 46- 50 Student correct questions and discuss places of confusion.
• 50-55 Students discuss and choose a relevant journal topic for the next week.
